On Canson “C” à Grain 180gsm paper, start by sketching the structure of the glass with the Lyra Rembrandt Art Design 4B graphite pencil. Use simple geometric shapes (circles and cylinders) to establish the proportions. Also mark the placement of the ice cubes inside the glass to anticipate the volume of the drink.
Next, strengthen the shadows and highlights with the graphite pencil. The blending stump helps create smooth gradients and gives a sense of transparency to the glass and ice cubes. Use the plastic eraser to lift out highlights, bringing out reflections and suggesting the freshness of the cocktail.
Move on to colour with the Lyra Rembrandt Polycolor pencils. Apply orange for the drink, light green and dark green to enrich the colour palette, and blend the shades to harmonise the composition. The ice cubes are enhanced with lighter tones and blending to reinforce their translucent effect. The volume of the glass and liquid becomes more convincing thanks to the contrasts.
Complete the illustration by adding the orange slice on the rim of the glass and the stirrer. These details create contrast and immediately draw the eye. Reinforce some outlines and lightly blend the colours for a harmonious, realistic finish.
This step-by-step process allows you to make the most of Canson “C” à Grain paper and Lyra Rembrandt pencils. By combining graphite shading, blending and touches of colour, you can achieve a refreshing and appetising cocktail illustration. Now it’s your turn to create your own fruity and original compositions!
