Why are forests certified as sustainably managed?
Forests are subject to numerous climatic, ecological, anthropogenic, societal and economic constraints. The preservation of forests requires coordinated management among their various users.
Forest certification is based on requirements designed to ensure that forests are managed according to environmental, social and economic criteria. For FSC®, any claims regarding benefits must comply with FSC standards and communication requirements.
The paper made by Canson® paper mills is certified for the traceability of the wood fibers stemming from non-threatened forests.
How can we be sure of the origin of the wood?
The wood and pulp supply chain may involve several stages. Chain of custody makes it possible to track certified materials in accordance with the requirements of the certification system.
Chain of custody certification ensures that the required information relating to certified materials is maintained throughout the various processing and distribution stages.
