Ju Varella

Ju Varella holds a degree in Advertising from ESPM and studied Fine Arts at the University of the Arts London (UAL). She worked as a print designer for OYSHO (part of the Inditex group – Zara) before embarking on a personal journey of healing from anxiety and depression through painting and meditation.

This transformative experience led her to create the Watercolor & Creative Unblocking method, which embraces emotions as a source of creative power and channels them into artistic expression. Over the past six years, Ju has shared her method with more than 3,000 students around the world, teaching classes in Barcelona, São Paulo, and currently, in Paris.

My favorite product from Canson is, without a doubt, the Montval 300g watercolor paper. I've been using it for many years, and it has truly become a trusted companion on my artistic journey. What I appreciate most is its high absorbency and beautifully balanced texture. The brush glides effortlessly, allowing the watercolor to flow naturally and intuitively. This is the paper I use every day in my own creations, and it’s also the one I rely on in every class I teach. I always recommend it with confidence, because I believe that working with quality materials is essential when it comes to transforming our emotions into art in a meaningful and authentic way.
