Michel Séméniako is a night-blind photographer. At night, he explores space, models and paints it using a coloured light beam from a flash-light. Reality offers him forms and by lighting them, he creates fiction. Thus he removes the boundaries between reality and imagination and invites us to re-appropriate spaces.
Michel Séméniako lives and works in Vitry-sur-Seine. After studying sociology, Michel Séméniako exhibited his first series of photographs from 1967 to 1970. Temporarily attracted to audio-visual production, he returned to photography in 1979 and in 1991 won the "Villa Médici hors les murs" prize. A year later, his work was again crowned with the "Prix Nadar".
From 1991 to 2004, he was a member of the Métis agency and a lecturer on photography in the Amiens Faculty of Art from 1992 to 2007.
